Etymology : The specific epithet is a patronym in honour of American herpetologist Russ Gurley in recognition of both his contributions to zoology and his friendship to the authors.
A new species of Umbyquyra Gargiulo, Brescovit & Lucas, 2018, Umbyquyra gurleyi sp. nov., is described from Goiás, Brazil, based on distinctive palpal bulb morphology.
