Type Locality : French Guiana, Saut Pararé, Arataye River
Etymology : This species is dedicated to Prof. J.-P. GASC thanks to which I was able to prospect the territory Guyanese twice as part of the specific "Guyana" action of the National Museum of Natural History.
One species of Barychelidae, Psalistops gasci, is described from French Guiana. This is the first record of this mygalomorph family from this neotropical country. The species is a ground dweller occurring in wet tropical forests.
